Wind & Storm resistance

Hurricanes are more likely these days but needless to worry under Decra®. 160 km/h hurricane can come your way but Decra® extreme weather resistant roofs could resist even that!

Climate change may bring high winds more frequently and intensely. If you own a Decra® roof, you don’t have to worry. Even a 160 km hurricane may be coming your way, but extremely weatherproof Decra® roofs could handle it!

Decra® light steel tiles are nailed to the roof structure with multiple fasteners, predominantly at 90° against wind shear forces, making them very secure in high winds. Most clay or concrete tiles are not attached directly to the roof frame. Because the interlocking Decra® steel tiles are attached horizontally with eight separate fasteners each, wind shear is virtually eliminated. Most other roofing products rely on vertical attachment methods that tend to lift in high winds.

Because of this, Decra® roofs are safer in high winds than vertically attached traditional alternatives.

We’ve heard stories from around the world where Decra® roofs have protected buildings from exceptionally high winds and even hurricanes.
